In this blog I'm going to share with you the latest version of the CRJ 700 900- a modernized update that looks and performs much better than its predecessors. This update includes all new start up procedure, displays, sound scheme and many other enhancements. We've also overhauled AFDSOFT's rendering engine based on next generation technology – DXT1. It makes for a much more immersive experience akin to what you'd find in a video game or Hollywood movie. It's even better than last year's P3D4 version. START UP PROCEDURE It's now possible to switch on/off the autopilot after start up. I strongly recommend keeping it on during startup and taxiing. On the main screen (or standby one) press ALT+F4 to display any window outside of this dialog box, then again press ALT+F4 to hide that window.  If you need to refer back to the START UP PROCEDURE, just press ALT+F4 once more. Final checks of systems are performed automatically before engines are started.   Keep in mind that in standard configuration, it's the TURBOJET start up mode.  So you'll see the engines go through their spool up sequence. AFDSOFT is doing all it can to ensure that your flight goes smoothly and safely. It is common practice for an airline pilot to follow checklists when flying a CRJ-700. We are following this best practice here as well. We have also changed the way APPR mode is handled, so now APPR mode is not engaged if the pilot hasn't yet completed the checklist items after engine start up. AFDSOFT's CRJ 700/900 has a feature called "auto-APPR".   It allows pilots to enter any ICAO airport code or airport name into the FMC's DEST field.  AFDSOFT's CRJ 700/900 will create a full flight plan with approach plates, takeoff and approach charts. AFDSOFT is now using custom static images for all airports included in our database.  It looks much better than default Aerosoft images. At some airports AFDSOFT's CRJ 700 900 is now using Aerosoft custom facades with animations, rather than default FSX or P3D facades. AFDSOFT's CRJ 700 900 includes a new lot of approach charts and takeoff charts including some custom ones made for this project. The entire cockpit is now built on the VR native SDK.  No longer we're using DXT1 texture format that doesn't work well with VR glasses. It's possible to have the virtual 3D cockpit visible during engine start up, engine shut down and during certain checklist steps.  It looks pretty cool!
